Grades 6–8. During this unit students work to answer the question, "What causes Earth's surface to change?" Students first are presented with an anchoring phenomenon that focuses on a 2015 Himalayan earthquake at Mt. Everest and the resulting land changes that occurred. They then go on to use modeling and hands-on investigations to explore earthquakes, how Earth's surface can change over time, and plate movement.
